The Haiti Grass Project wishes to recognize Kappa Alpha Theta sorority members at Florida State University for their recent contributions to the Haiti Grass Project. Led by Andrea Strickland, the sorority’s Service Director, Kappa Alpha Theta raised $636 to help the project further its mission.
Dr. Tawainga Katsvairo recently met with Father Patrick Verdiue, the priest for St. Joseph Church in Carcasse, Haiti. The Haiti Grass Project will be expanding the planting of grass to the Southern Part of Haiti. Several nurseries will be established. This project also has an education component, where students at St. Joseph will receive a curriculum on environmental conservation.

Better Universe and Citizens, a non-profit group based in Tallahassee, Fla., in 2017 began the Haiti Grass Project to establish “grass nurseries” there and eventually hopes to build hundreds of them.
Better Universe and Citizens held a ceremony on April 22 to recognize student volunteers who have worked hard to help improve the livelihoods of communities in Haiti.
